Everything You Need to Know

(and a bit more)

Frequently asked questions

Here are some common questions

Diving Courses & Education

Can I get certified during my trip?

Yes! We offer a range of PADI courses on board. You can start your journey with the Open Water Diver (OWD) course or level up with the Advanced Open Water Diver (AOWD). We also offer specialties like Enriched Air (Nitrox) and Deep Diver.

Do I need to study before I arrive?

To maximize your time underwater, we recommend completing the PADI ELearning (theory) before you board. This allows you to focus purely on the practical dives while on safari.

I am already certified; is Nitrox available?

Absolutely. Nitrox is available for all certified Nitrox divers. If you aren't certified yet, you can complete the Nitrox course during your first few days on the boat.

Solo Travellers

I am traveling alone. Can I join a safari?

Definitely! Many of our guests are solo travelers. You will be paired with a same-sex roommate in one of our twin cabins. It’s a great way to meet like-minded ocean lovers.

Is there a "Single Supplement" if I want my own cabin?

If you prefer total privacy, a single supplement fee applies to book a twin cabin for exclusive use. Please contact us for current rates.

First-Time Liveaboard & "Try Dives"

I’ve never been on a liveaboard before. What should I expect?

Expect "Eat, Sleep, Dive, Repeat!" A liveaboard is the best way to see the Red Sea's remote reefs. You’ll live on the boat for the duration of the trip, with all meals, diving, and accommodation included.

Can I try diving for the first time on the boat (Intro Dives)?

Yes! If you aren't a certified diver, you can try a "Discovery Scuba Diving" session. An instructor will take you hand-in-hand to a shallow depth to experience the magic of breathing underwater for the first time.

What if I get seasick?

The Red Sea is generally calm, but we recommend bringing motion sickness medication if you are sensitive. Our crew is also experienced in helping guests find the most stable parts of the boat.

Families & Children

Is Amelie Safari family-friendly?

Yes! We love hosting families. Our smaller boat size creates a cozy, private atmosphere that is perfect for families with children.

Are there age limits for children?

Children are welcome; however, for safety reasons, we recommend a minimum age of 8 for snorkeling and 10 for introductory diving (Junior Open Water). Please note that parents are responsible for their children's supervision at all times.

Equipment Rental

Do I need to bring my own gear?

While many divers bring their own, we have a full range of high-quality rental equipment available, including BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, masks, and fins.

How do I arrange a rental?

Please send us your sizes (height, weight, and shoe size) at least 14 days before departure so we can ensure the perfect fit is waiting for you on deck.

Non-Divers (Snorkelers)

I don't dive, but my partner does. Can I come?

Yes! Non-divers are very welcome. You can enjoy sunbathing on our decks, snorkeling at most of our dive sites, and enjoying the full-board hospitality. We often offer a "Non-Diver" discount on the trip price.

Can a solo non-diver join?

Of course. Many of our sites are perfect for snorkeling, and our crew will ensure you know the best spots to see the reef from the surface while the divers are down below.

Group Charters (Special 6-Pax Rate)

We are a group of 6. Can we charter the boat?

Yes! We offer a special "half-charter" or "small group" rate specifically for groups of 6 people. This is a popular option for dive clubs or groups of friends who want a more private experience without booking the entire 12-person capacity.

What are the benefits of a 6-pax charter?

Aside from the discounted rate, it allows for a more flexible itinerary tailored to your group's experience level and interests (e.g., focusing more on wrecks or photography).
